Cub Scout Pack 235 and Girl Scout Troop 2908 held a banquet and bridging ceremony at Sandy Point Community Center on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. The banquet consisted of a family-style pot luck, with scouts and their extended families all sharing a meal. Four Cub Scouts advanced to the next level, one earning his Bear Patch and three earning their Tiger Patches. Fourteen Girl Scouts bridged to the next Girl Scout level, ten of whom were in attendance (five Daisy Girl Scouts crossing the bridge to Brownie Girl Scouts and five Brownie Girl Scouts bridging to Junior Girl Scouts.) The evening ended with a slide show of both troops' events over the past year. Congratulations to all members of Cub Scout Pack 235 and Girl Scout Troop 2908 who won patches, badges and stars.
42nd Annual Ladies Aid Fair
The Sandy Point Ladies Aid will be holding their 42nd Annual Meetinghouse Fair at the Sandy Point Community Club, on US One, on Wednesday, July 13th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. There will be something for everyone - fancywork, homemade baked goods, treasures and trash, Rada cutlery, attic treasures, wonderful Vermont "rat" cheese and a delicious lunch served between 11:00 am and closing. Books, plants, children's items, etc. etc. A Silent Auction will offer many one-of-a-kind items as well. This year's Raffle includes a beautiful handmade, double bed quilt which is a real work of art: "Maine Paisley and Star Quilt" , plus a $25.00 gift certificate to Main St. Market and $25.00 in cash. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00 and will be on sale from members of the Ladies Aid and on the day of the sale. Drawing takes place at 1:00 pm. Bargains galore! Come, join us!

Empty Bowl Supper
Mark your calendars, now: on Friday evening, September 30, 2011, Sandy Point Community Club will host an Empty Bowl Supper to benefit the Searsport Methodist/Congregational Church's Food Cupboard. Local potter Asha Fenn, of the Pottery, Art and Writing Studio, on Route One in Stockton Springs, has generously offered to handcraft and contribute a number of pottery bowls for this fundraising event. The bowls will be used for a simple and delicious meal and attendees may take home one or more of the bowls upon giving a monetary donation to the food cupboard. Other area potters are invited and encouraged to contribute handcrafted bowls to this effort; "seconds" are acceptable and welcome. The cupboard will also be raffling off an amazing handcrafted Ash Fenn vase.
